About Scottish Recipes
Many of the recipes you'll find here I first tasted in my late Granny's kitchen.
My Granny liked strong flavours and believed in using lots of salt and slightly burning food to intensify the taste.
Like many Scots, she had a very sweet tooth and managed to live into her mid-nineties on a diet that seemed mainly to consist of tea, biscuits and cream cakes - and a little bit of "proper food" - if she was cooking it for someone else.
Scottish Recipes is fondly dedicated to her memory.

Scotland's people live far from the equator and the privileged sub-tropical and Mediterranean climates famous for more fashionable foods.

Built on the products of cold seas and the cool climate, Scottish cooking is filling and wholesome.
